OVERVIEW
It happened, you guys. I gave in. I cracked. I reached for a jacket that wasn’t in my 10 pieces. Heck, it’s not even a part of my spring capsule! Although, I guess it is now.
See, I run my capsule wardrobe like a pirate.
Let me explain.
Remember Pirates of the Caribbean? Remember how the Pirate Code is “more like guidelines, anyway”? THAT is how I view my capsule wardrobe rules.
So I added my denim jacket to the mix and I’m so glad. The wash of this jacket thankfully doesn’t match my jeans which means I’ll be able to wear it all the time.
Enough about the denim jacket, let’s get on with the full outfit.
Also, I didn’t get to wear this top on this day. It was in the wash. More on that below.
WHAT I DID
Day 8 landed on Good Friday so I made plans to tag along to a Good Friday service with my best friend after work. The morning was going fine. I was a little scattered but doing ok. It came time for me to leave for work and I could not find my keys. I looked everywhere. I tore up my already torn up apartment. I threw everything everywhere.
And then I had a very cinematic moment where I looked up and suddenly remembered where my keys were. They weren’t in the apartment. They were in Brandon’s car. I’d tossed them in there the night before when we got out of the car for our impromptu date night.
Thankfully, we live in 2017 where I can call Uber to take me to work. Thankfully, Brandon was able to bring me my keys so I could get into the apartment when I was off. And thankfully, my best friend picked me up from the mall (where I work) and took me to Good Friday service. All the inconvenient things that happened would normally stress me the heck out but it didn’t feel right to focus on those things on the day I was also remembering Christ’s death on the cross.
I’d never been to a Good Friday service but I think I’m gonna make an effort to go every year. Taking time to remember the death part of Easter made Resurrection Sunday really feel like a celebration.
STYLING DETAILS
I grabbed the denim jacket for this outfit because I wanted to break up all the black. All black is always super chic, but I just wasn’t feeling it that day. Plus the denim gives the whole outfit a more relaxed vibe. I’d worn my high tops two days in a row and honestly? I thought it might be a little boring and expected to wear them again, so I decided to wear the ankle boots instead.
Sometimes my decisions are based solely (no pun intended) on variety. Do you do that? Choose to wear something simply because you need a little mix up?
See you back here tomorrow for Day 9’s outfit!
