How I Style My Spring Capsule Wardrobe
I really liked putting together those quick outfits for my spring capsule video (which has like 3000 views, btw! How did that happen?!). Anyway, I used to put a lot of effort into my daily outfits when I was working a desk job, but lately I’ve felt like I’ve been in a style slump. I’ll never give up wearing my t shirts and jeans, but I like to experiment with my styling every once in a while just to see if I discover something new I like.
As much as I like styling my capsule wardrobe for the weekend, three outfits isn’t a lot to offer in terms of inspiration. I also dress the same no matter what day of the week it is, so I figured I’d expand this little What I Wore series into most of the week to show how I style my 40-something piece wardrobe.
Check out the video to see what I wore this week! A breakdown of everything is right below the video, too!
TUESDAY
DETAILS / Gap top (thrifted - similar), Madewell Perfect Summer Jeans, huarache sandals (purchased in Costa Rica - similar), Madewell Tassle Necklace, Braided Leather Belt
We’re starting on Tuesday because I worked all day Monday. My main plans for the day were to get coffee with my friend and head to work that night. I wore my Perfect Summer Jean from Madewell and paired it with the thrifted copper top and my huarache sandals. To tie the whole thing together I threw on my fringe necklace.
WEDNESDAY
DETAILS / Madewell V Neck Tee, Levis Jeans, Clarks Desert Boots, Gap Cardigan (similar), Madewell Bandana
I ran a few errands and had a rooftop shindig that evening so I wore my green v neck tee from Madewell, Levis jeans, and my Clarks desert boots. The jeans and t shirt felt a little plain so I added my yellow bandana to finish the outfit. Once it was time to head out to the rooftop get together, I put my long gray cardigan on to keep warm in the evening breeze.
THURSDAY
DETAILS / H&M Stripe Mockneck Tee (old - similar), Levis 535 Super Skinny Jeans, Clarks Desert Boots, H&M Hat (old - similar)
I was feeling a little restless on Thursday so I decided to get dressed and walk to a cool coffee shop (I picked The Mill, btw). I wore my striped mockneck tee, my old Levis that I cut the hem off of, my desert boots (again) and finished the look with my gray hat.
FRIDAY
DETAILS / Green V Neck Sweater (thrifted - similar), Levis Skinny Jeans, Lucky Ankle Boots
It was Saint Patrick’s Day and my toughest problem wasn’t finding something to wear, it was deciding which of my many green tops to wear. I settled on my new-to-me thrifted v neck sweater, wore it with some light washed Levis and my caramel ankle boots.
SATURDAY
DETAILS / LOFT sweater, Levis White Jeans, Lucky Ankle Boots, Faux Leather Jacket (similar)
Brandon was spending the whole weekend in the studio (finishing the EP!!!) so I made plans to go thrifting with Barbara in the morning. I wore my blue sweater, white jeans and black ankle boots because I knew they’d look cute but also be very easy to change out of in the fitting room. After thrifting, Barbara and I went for a photo walk and spent about an hour practicing our modeling and photography skills in the wildflowers. I picked this outfit because it was no-fuss and it ended up being comfy enough for hanging out in the studio, too. #bonus
SUNDAY
DETAILS / H&M Sweater (old - similar), Madewell High Rise Jeans, High Top Converse
After a long Saturday (recording days are cool but looooong), I kept Sunday’s outfit easy and simple. Part of that was because I had to be up early for church and the other part was because I expected it to be gloomy and cold. Luckily, the weather was pretty warm despite the overcast and I got to enjoy sitting outside for most of the afternoon!
There you have it! What I wore this week and how I style my capsule wardrobe items every day. I had a lot of fun putting this post and video together, so if you liked it to, let me know in the comments!
See you guys back here on Thursday!
XO, Alex
