The 75 Hard Style Challenge is going strong and I feel like I’m gaining some good clarity on what my style actually looks like these days!
I think my favorite part of this challenge has been the process of documenting my daily outfits —not just on Instagram Stories, but in my spreadsheet, too! 🤓 I’m not a super organized person but I do enjoy a certain level of tedium. The beauty of this challenge and of documenting my outfits, in general, is that I’ve been able to see exactly what’s working for me in this season of life. I’m getting a sense of what I’m wearing, sure! But I’m also learning the silhouettes, feelings, and colors I’m inspired by. The best part is I’m doing it all by just propping my phone up on a counter or on my porch and taking a very low-key video of what I'm wearing. It’s made the documentation process fun again!
my top 10 most worn pieces this month
Striped Tee — I’m so bummed that Madewell hasn’t brought this style t-shirt back because I love everything about this one! The color! The weight of the fabric! The fit! It’s all so good, I’m pretty sure I wore it once a week this month so I can safely say it is one of my closet’s core pieces.
Turtleneck Tee — I thrifted this top almost five years ago (!!!) and my favorite thing about it is the weight of the fabric. It’s thick in the way that turtleneck t-shirts were in the 90s. There’s something nostalgic and cozy about this tee, it’s a joy to wear!
Cropped Sweatshirt — This sweatshirt has been so good for the days I don’t feel like getting dressed. It’s comfortable, soft, and the crop on it gives the right amount of interest so I feel put together enough.
Linen Pant — I’m obsessed with these wide leg linen (blend) pants from Old Navy. They’re so affordable and so versatile and so comfortable! I wear them almost constantly because they feel as cozy as pajamas and they look as amazing dressed up for church as they do dressed down for a Target run. I wore the beige ones a ton this month, but the brown ones are in constant rotation too!
Patched Denim — I put these pants on my Christmas wish list as soon as I saw them because, being a denim girl, I knew I wanted to start expanding my collection to include a couple of more “out there” denim. I’m also always looking for ways to add visual interest to my closet because I’m drawn to such soft, earthy tones and dainty or simple patterns. I’m not quite ready to wear bright bold colors but I have been feeling more playful when it comes to my clothes. These jeans tick all of those boxes for me! My one qualm is I wish I would have sized down. The website says it’s rigid denim, which it is in a way, but it’s not the thick kind that will take a long time to break in. I’ve found that mine relax very quickly, which doesn’t give me the best fit on the bum. They are on super sale though, so I may buy the size down and see if I like the fit better!
Wide Leg Denim — My hands down most worn jeans this month! I never would have guessed how much I’d like this fit because they’re pretty on trend, but I’m sold! Between these jeans and my wide leg linen pants, it’s safe to say I’m very into this silhouette.
Medium Wash Straight Leg Denim — A nice medium denim blue and a classic straight leg and high waist from Madewell, what’s not to love?
Dark Wash Denim — I bought these jeans through ThredUp a few months ago and almost sent them back. They were a touch too snug, but I had a feeling (read: blind hope) that I’d fit into them better after a few more months postpartum. Having worked at Madewell for years, I trusted that the jeans would also relax as I wore them. Needless to say, I love these. I’m so glad I kept them AND I was right; they have just the right amount of give after a wear or two.
Birkenstock Boston Clogs — I’ve had these for less than six months but man, oh man, do I wear the heck out of them! I’m considering adding a suede taupe pair (you know, the ones everyone has 😆) for spring and summer.
Mini Ugg Boots — Another trend I’m two years late to, I finally got some mini Uggs for my birthday last year! I love my original Ugg boots from high school and still have them and it makes me happy to know my instincts re: slip-on footwear were spot on.
I’m interested to see which of my clothes end up being part of my closet essentials in the last few weeks of this challenge. I already feel like I’ve learned so much about my personal style!
