Camel Sweater + Green Jeans
I read somewhere that limits spark creativity. I think I’ve always heard it in reference to financial limits or time constraints, but I think the idea works with capsule wardrobes, too. 37 items. One season. It basically forces you to get creative!
I got a call last week from a number I didn’t recognize. I usually screen these calls but I’d been on the job hunt and I forced myself to pick up the phone. It was from a possible employer! I set the interview for the next morning.
I did some outfit brainstorming on my Instagram story last week and went with this look – a camel crewneck sweater with green skinny jeans and heeled black ankle boots. The olive green jacket was a happy accident! I really only grabbed it because I didn’t think a denim jacket screamed “hire me!”
OUTFIT DEETS: | Gap crewneck sweater (last season), current season, similar | Paige Denim olive green skinny jeans, more affordable option | Lucky Brand heeled ankle boots | Max Jeans utility jacket (old), similar | Fossil bag
The forecast called for rain so I knew I wanted to keep it out of my face but also pretty. The length my hair is at right now just doesn’t look great in a top knot so I got a little creative (there are those limits again!) and put my hair in a makeshift Dutch braided updo.
I spent the rest of the day referring to my hair style as my Ever After hair because it reminded me of how Drew Barrymore’s hair was styled in that movie.
You guys know what I’m talking about, right?
I ended up loving this outfit more than I could have imagined. I was genuinely surprised at how I managed to take these pretty casual pieces and dress them up enough to look like a hire-worthy person.
Possibly my favorite part of this outfit is the caramel color. I might have to start wearing this color all the time. I usually don’t count it as a main neutral in my color palette but that will definitely change next season.
Here’s why I love it: it brings out my natural coloring. That felt weird to type but I think you know what I mean. My eye and hair color is close enough to this caramel color that having it this close to my face made my features pop just a little more than normal.
And pairing it with these olive-y green jeans was a match made in heaven. I’m obsessed with how earthy this color combination is.
Some people get excited about pink, I apparently get very excited about camel.
